MASIN Supports CanKids
MASIN supports CanKids, an India-based national society dedicated to changing the landscape of childhood cancer. CanKids provides holistic care for children with cancer and their families.
The organization focuses on providing social support through CanKids Hospital Support Units and Care Centers. It also strives to ensure the best standards of treatment and care by building partnerships with treatment centers, identifying and addressing gaps year after year, setting up stakeholder forums at regional and national levels, focusing on disease-centric projects, quality care, research, and impact, building capacities, and advocating for government and patient support.
Today, CanKids works in over 54 cancer centers in 26 cities and 19 states in India, treating more than 15,000 new cases of childhood cancer each year. Additionally, it operates 4 “Home Away from Homes” (HAHs) in Delhi, Trivandrum, Kolkata, and Chennai; the only Canshala, a special school for children with cancer, in Mumbai; a 10-bed pediatric palliative care center in Delhi; and the first reintegration center in Trivandrum.
In its 14 years of existence, over 32,074 families have been registered under its YANA (You Are Not Alone) program. This signature program aims to provide holistic support to children with cancer and their families from the moment of detection through diagnosis, treatment, and beyond. This support includes medical financial assistance, treatment supportive care, nutrition, accommodation, education, psychological support, and information.
