Lean, not light: making expert evidence cost-effective and tribunal-focused

Expert evidence can add real value to an arbitration. But it can also add high cost, complexity and volume.

The challenge is not simply to reduce the amount of expert evidence – it is to make sure that the evidence presented is focused on what the tribunal actually needs to decide the case, while retaining the analytical rigour behind it.

That is the conversation behind the International Bar Association Annual Conference Copenhagen 2026 session:
“Lean, not light: making expert evidence cost-effective and tribunal-focused”

The session will look at practical ways to improve the efficiency of expert evidence, including procedural approaches that can help control costs without compromising the quality of the expert’s assistance to the tribunal. The discussion will bring together perspectives from counsel, industry and experts.
