A Chartered Civil Engineer and Chartered Railway Engineer, he has extensive expertise in permanent way, track engineering, railway infrastructure, asset management and multidisciplinary design, from feasibility and concept development through detailed design and construction.
Alan has undertaken senior technical advisory, assurance and expert witness roles on major railway projects across the UK and internationally. His experience includes safety validation, design and construction assurance, railway asset management, track and alignment, Common Safety Method compliance and the management of complex multidisciplinary railway works. He has supported major projects including HS2, the Melbourne Suburban Rail Loop, East Kilbride Electrification Project, Levenmouth Rail Link and various light rail and freight infrastructure developments.
